Gourmet Grocery Manager
Otto’s Gourmet Grocer is expanding. This is your chance to immerse yourself in an array of gourmet products and drive the grocery arm of Townsville's #1 foodie destination.
Because one can never have too much beautiful food.
At Otto’s Market, we stock only the freshest produce, the very best meat, the finest cheese and accompaniments, and the most luxurious baked goods. But the offer wouldn’t be complete without an eclectic range of specialty grocery items and dry goods to fill in the gaps.
Otto’s Gourmet Grocer is the specialty grocery arm of our business. Our emphasis is on embracing all foods, sourcing and offering a vast selection of products that serve the diverse needs of our shoppers.
Otto’s Market is a destination for food lovers across the region looking for high quality, traditional, artisanal products and ingredients. Due to exponential growth, we are opening a second location in 2019 and have a rare opportunity for a suitably experienced Grocery Manager to join us.
ABOUT THE ROLE
As the Grocery Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of our grocery department. You will assist in ensuring it runs efficiently and profitably, whilst maintaining Otto’s excellent reputation and attention to customer service.
You will be responsible for managing all retail at Otto’s Gourmet Grocer. You will help to lead and make decisions around the offering, while actively working on the sales floor and engaging with our guests.
You will be responsible for expense control, buying/merchandising, compliance and special projects as assigned, whilst ensuring profitability. In a nutshell, you have complete accountability for all aspects of the department’s operations.
This is an exciting opportunity for a suitably experienced foodie who understands that their ideas and passion will have direct and lingering effects on our business. This role is integral to the continued development of our operational retail systems and will form part of a supportive and passionate team of managers and store leaders.
There is nothing more appealing to you than searching high and low for rare and exciting products. To you, quality is paramount, but you understand there is more to running a successful grocery store than just lining the shelves with oils, vinegars, pasta and sauces.
You are highly organised with excellent verbal and written communication skills. You have a proven ability to run your own successful department and have expert knowledge in products, buying, costing and inventory management. As you will be working across two sites, a current driver’s licence and reliable vehicle are essential. A forklift licence is highly desirable. A current Food Handler’s Certificate is essential.
You are a firm believer that local stores should be at the centre and heart of every community and you are committed to championing this view throughout the store and in the products you source.
Due to the large volume of applications expected, only short-listed candidates will be contacted.
Wow us with your experience in a brief CV and cover letter to guarantee a response.
