For hundreds of thousands of years, man has harnessed the power of fire as a means of preparing food, and with the opening of a second location in August, Otto’s Kitchen are searching for an enthusiastic kitchen professional to embrace this primal method of cooking.
Our new evening dining offering at Otto’s Market Precinct will be unlike any other in the region. An eclectic and delicious blend of local ingredients and creative recipes, in Otto’s Kitchen, quality is everything. But our main point of difference is the inclusion in our kitchen of our Spanish Mibrasa charcoal oven.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Designed and built using cutting-edge engineering, the Mibrasa is fired on only charcoal and/or wood, and respects the purest and simplest ancestral culinary techniques. As our Mibrasa Chef, you will be responsible for learning (and mastering) this eye-catching, nucleus system, whilst developing and training your colleagues in new techniques when it comes to wielding fire in the kitchen.
As an integral member of the Otto’s Kitchen crew, you will have a passion and talent for making and serving excellent food. You will play a key role in ensuring all food is cooked to company quality standards. You will skilfully coordinate with your fellow chefs and kitchen assistants to provide customers with the best possible culinary experience, and you will do all of this in an open kitchen space, in view of our customers, with whom you will also engage.
You will be required to work evenings (dinner service).
Since you discovered the beauty of harnessing a flame, you have been fascinated by the power of fire. You have experience as a Cook, Chef or Kitchenhand, however your true passion for cooking with fire and a willingness to learn and develop your skills in unchartered territory is what makes you a stand-out candidate. You are the type of person who can lead from the front, get creative and make this role your own.
You are immaculately presented, courteous, versatile and consistent. You perform at your best when collaborating as part of a passionate, top-flight team, and are excited by the prospect of developing new ideas for menus (whilst taking into account availability, cost of produce, food supply and consumer tastes).
Finally, you are keen to become an expert in cooking with pure fire and its embers on state-of-the-art equipment, whilst delivering an authentic, flame-kissed flavour to our valued guests.
