We are in the midst of a local produce revolution. If you are an experienced greengrocer dedicated to supporting local, then 'lettuce turnip the beet'! Contact us now.
A good greengrocer doesn’t miss a beet, and neither do we at Otto’s.
Otto’s Harvest is the produce arm of Otto’s Market, with a sustainable outlook and a nostalgic sensibility to its operations. Our emphasis is on serving the community while sourcing quality, seasonal produce primarily from the hard-working local growers that contribute to North Queensland’s incredible food bowl.
2019 will see the unveiling of a second Harvest location, and we are looking for a proactive Produce Manager to champion our brand, deliver the best in customer service and promote the importance of eating seasonally and thinking locally.
ABOUT THE ROLE
As the Produce Manager, you will live and breathe our brand at all bases. This is a hands-on role, and as all of our produce is farm fresh, it must be handled, prepared and merchandised correctly in order to deliver the highest level of quality and customer satisfaction in our stores.
You will provide management and supervision to the produce department across both sites by leading, mentoring and developing your team; encouraging them to not only achieve, but surpass all departmental goals. You will be responsible for expense control, buying/merchandising, compliance and special projects as assigned, whilst ensuring profitability. In a nutshell, you have complete accountability for all aspects of the department’s operations.
This is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned professional who is passionate about making grocery shopping an enticing experience – by taking ownership of Otto’s Harvest, engaging with local producers and creatively fine-tuning our offering.
Fresh food runs deep in your DNA. You are a keen foodie who loves nothing more than to handpick your purchases based on quality, freshness and seasonal availability. You understand that our clientele want an enhanced experience, from a greengrocer who only chooses the best, whilst featuring unique produce they won’t find at the conglomerate chains.
You are highly organised with excellent verbal and written communication skills. You have a proven ability to run your own successful department and have expert knowledge in products, buying, costing and inventory management. As you will be working across two sites, a current driver’s licence and reliable vehicle are essential. A forklift licence is highly desirable. You are passionate about helping local growers put their food on local tables, whilst delivering the best in service and advice to your clientele. Demonstrated experience in putting this passion to work, is a must.
Due to the large volume of applications expected, only short-listed candidates will be contacted.
Wow us with your experience in a brief CV and cover letter to guarantee a response.
